Prof. Michal Segoli
Lab Head
I am a behavioral and evolutionary ecologist. I focus on life history trade-offs and on factors that limit the reproductive success of insects in natural and anthropogenic environments.
My work integrates field observations, traditional ecological experiments, mathematical modelling and molecular genetic techniques.
My approach is to address general ecological and evolutionary problems, while contributing to applied science. In particular I am interested in understanding the ecological processes that underlie host-parasite
interactions, while promoting the efficient use of parasitoids as biological control agents in agricultural systems.
Another field of interest is the effect of bacterial endosymbionts on the reproductive success of insects, and their use for biological control of pests and diseases.
